The pulp fiction magazines of the early to mid 20th century featured just about every subject imaginable, from fringe titles (yes, there really was a Civil War Stories, a Submarine Stories, and even a Suicide Stories) to mainstream (Argosy, Adventure, Blue Book) to genre titles (Weird Tales, Detective Stories, Ranch Romances) and everything in between. “In Between” includes the “hero” pulps, of which there were dozens...Doc Savage, Operator #5, The Avenger, Zorro, The Black Bat, and many, many more appeared there. Some appeared in magazines that bore their name; others appeared in mystery, adventure, or fantasy pulps. Some crossed over from radio or television.

I wasn't won over by the adventures of Major Tattersoll, but the Lone Ranger story was excellent as was the story featuring Secret Agent X (which I enjoyed so much that I found and downloaded more of his exploits from Amazon. The Black Hood story was clever, but of even more interested to me in that this character closely resembled Stan Lee's Spider-Man character -- a little too closely, if you know what I mean. All in all, fun reading at an incredibly low price!Product details

This is a collection of slam-bang pulp era hero stories that really delivers and contains some unusual items. If you are a fan you almost HAVE to have this at 99 cents. You can't go wrong.
A most unusual read. I liked it. Got me away from the front page of the paper and started me thinking, "What is a gunsel?" I ordered a couple more like minded reads after finishing to teleport me further, still, from the front page of life.
