Finished Vampire Blues: Four Stories (Samantha Moon Case Files #1) and almost don't know how to rate it, the stories were good (even with the bait and switch on Samantha Moon since only 1 of the stories had ANYTHING about her) but they were a bit unfulfilling if that makes sense, I think it may be that I just don't care for short stories that much, I wanted so much more for these stories than the author was prepared to give. If you want something to read when you have a few minutes but don't wish to get into a novel, this would be good, the stories are excellent (last story was a bit less so than the others). Give it a barely 4 stars for the fact that the stories were actually interesting and well written for the most part but they were just too short, I wanted to know what happened next :)Product details

I keep buying these novellas, because I love the characters and don't want to miss any aspect of their stories, but I really hate the short novella format.This story was perfectly complete, however, I just wanted to read more about Samantha Moon; I always do!
I absolutely loved all of the J.R. Rain books on the Samantha Moon series. I can't stop reading until the book is finished. Great story lines that keep me interested.
Great story nice read
Gave it one star for mediocre stories and deceptive marketing. Only ONE of the four stories is a Samantha Moon case file, and a boring one at that. The other three stories are in no way, shape, or form "case files" of Samantha Moon. Very irritating and deceptive. Let me add that I really enjoy the author I've read every Samantha Moon story, and have become a fan of Spinoza, King and Jim Knighthorse. This one was a disappointment, I'm sorry to say.
J.R Rain is my favorite author..Samantha Moon is a character PLUS - detective, adventurer, vampire, mother, and the most interesting character I can remember. It is great to be so entertained, and laugh at her exploits and witty comments. All four stories are good reads, and quite varied in texture and style. Gotta love Samantha Moon the most though. Always waiting for her next adventure.
There were 3 short-stories in this novella. I like the first one, but the other two are what really shined in this book. I recommend "Nightmare" and "Soul Train" highly!
The only reason I chose to give 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the length of this book. Only 80% are short stories. The rest are samples of other books and announcements for books that are coming soon. I'm not complaining though because I downloaded this book during a free promotion on .
With that being said, I really enjoyed the short stories by J.R. Rain! As always, the Samantha Moon short was terrific. The other 2 were, in typical J.R. fashion, very odd and creepy and quite entertaining! If you've read other books by this author and enjoyed them then you should read this one as well. I look forward to reading more stories by J.R. Rain!!
